Senior First Round Trials 2018
November 16, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Senior Trials
Our first round of senior trials will take place on Thursday 16th and Sunday 19th of November 2017. The purpose of the trials is to name a preliminary training squad for 2018. We with then have a second round of trials in February to make final team selections for the entire Club.
Head Coach
We would like to formally announce the appointment of Sarah Fry as our Head Coach for 2018. Sarah was announced as our 2017 Coach of the Year (the second time she has received the award). Many may know her as our A Grade coach from 2017. Sarah is an extremely dedicated and talented coach and the Club is so pleased to have secured her for next season.
Teams
Our members may be aware that, due to the final placings of the AMND and A Grade teams at the conclusion of the 2017 winter season, we will not be fielding a team in the AMND League grade in 2018. Instead, our top two teams will be A Grade and B1. While this is disappointing, the Club is committed to fielding the strongest possible squad in 2018. Winning back AMND League must be a primary goal for the Club next year, to ensure that we continue to offer a pathway to our younger players and to provide the opportunity for all of our players to play at the best level they possibly can. We need a top two finish in A Grade in 2018 to achieve this goal. This is going to be the first step towards regaining a spot in the Premier League.
Pre-season training
Pre-season training will commence in late November, following trials. As always, pre-season fitness training is open to the whole club (including new players committed to play for us in 2018) and we strongly encourage all of you to attend as much as possible. Attendance will be at no cost, with the Club bearing the expenses (unless otherwise advised for special events, from time to time). This means that you can get fitter, improve your game and spend time getting to know your club-mates. The Club strongly believes that the entire Club will benefit both on and off the court by creating a greater sense of community amongst our players through fitness – one of the core aims of our organisation. Please monitor our Facebook page, Instagram and the website for information.
The Club has also secured the services of Sean Baker and PEAQ Conditioning as our fitness trainer for the coming pre-season and on into 2018. Those who have attended pre-season in the past will know that Sean is a knowledgeable and enthusiastic fitness trainer with plenty of experience training elite sportspeople. Sean works out of SA Base Camp at Royal Park. Sarah and Sean have planned a fun, challenging and diverse training program to get us in shape for next winter.
We look forward to seeing you all at trials!
